Gombe State Civil Servants have been called upon to demonstrate excellence, honesty, and integrity while discharging their duties for effective service delivery in the state.
This call was made by the Chairperson of the Civil Service Commission, Mrs. Rabi Shuaibu Jimeta, while inaugurating a 5-day capacity-building program aimed at enhancing skills and competencies to guide the selection process for appointing substantive directors in the state civil service.
The event is being held at the ICT Hub of Gombe State University.
According to Rabi, she noted that Gombe State Government is working tirelessly to improve the welfare and well-being of its employees, therefore, it is essential for civil servants to exhibit exceptional dedication and competence in their duties.
Addressing the deputy directors participating in the ongoing capacity-building program, which focuses on basic public service skills, the chairperson urged them to pay close attention to the presentations and excel in the upcoming examination, emphasizing that the state government will no longer promote workers who lack competence.
Also speaking at the event, the state Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Ahmed Kasimu Abdullahi, encouraged participants to be proactive and focus on the presentations as the state government will no longer promote workers without competency evaluations.
Expressing his satisfaction with the second edition of the capacity-building program for prospective directors, Alhaji Ahmed Kasimu noted that the state government has previously implemented similar initiatives and will continue to do so to enhance civil servants' performance.
Speaking on behalf of the participants, the Deputy Director of Gombe Media Corporation (GMC), Alhaji Danjuma Kala, and the Provost of Gombe State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Dr. Pauline J.S. Doka, commended the state government and pledged to prioritize the training sessions for better outcomes.
This second edition of the retreat, organized under the current administration, has attracted over 150 deputy directors.
