Lagos-based Green Africa Airways, has made its debut in Nigeria's aviation industry as it began selling tickets for travellers who want to reserve a seat on its fleet on Tuesday.
Recently, the airline unveiled a preliminary route network for operations. It announced that Abuja, Port Harcourt, Akure, Ilorin, Enugu, and Owerri are among the six domestic destinations served by the network.
The airline stated that as it receives more aircraft in the coming months and year, operations will be scaled up.
Despite the fact that ticket sales have begun, the airline will begin flying to various local destinations on June 24.
The airline’s charges, flight fees for Lagos to Abuja and vice versa for the year range between N16,500 and N23,000.
When compared to the current prices charged by other airlines in the country, this is a bargain
The airline received two ATR 72-600s in April, with the registrations 5N-GAA and 5N-GAE.
Both aircraft, which arrived at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport with a capacity of 70 passengers in a 2-2 layout, are all-economy.
The aviation industry in Nigeria is beset with many challenges, particularly the depleting fleet size among commercial airlines. However, Green Africa Airways is positioning itself to change this narrative.
The Airways plans to expand its ATR turboprop fleet to 15 aircraft by the end of the year.
To mark the occasion, Green Africa is offering a 10% discount to those who book on its website.
"Customers, referred to as “gFlyers,” can choose from three fare classes: gSaver, gClassic, or gFlex, according to the Green Airways Tweet," the airline stated.
