OVER-VOTING: INEC cancels Ogun PDP Chairman's unit results

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has cancelled the result of a unit in the Ward of Ogun State Chairman of People's Democratic Party, PDP, Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele for electoral discrepancies.

The election at unit 04, ward 01 , Ifo Local Government was marred with over-voting and alleged ballot snatching.

According to the returning officer of the Constituency election, Prof Olusegun Onabanjo , "the results of the unit is cancelled and the constituency election is hereby declared inconclusive due to Over-voting. A new date for the election at that polling unit shall be announced at a later date". 

The result  indicates that the Speaker of the State House of Assembly and candidate of the All Progressives Congress,  APC, had 7,379 votes while his closest rival, the candidate of the PDP had 6,410.  

The election in the polling  Unit had been reported to be characterised with ballot open threats of  violence and over-voting. 

The APC candidate was leading his PDP Counterpart with 969 votes as at the time time the election was declared inconclusive.
