A Behavior Change Communication Strategist and a Movie Director, Dr. Kamoru Salaudeen has taken significant steps to address Cyber predatory, social media addiction, peer influence, parental negligence in a new movie titled ‘On the street of Zuckerberg.’

Salaudeen's ‘On the street of Zuckerberg’ project is not just a movie but a powerful force that tackles some societal menace such as spiritual emptiness, peer influence, social media addiction, among others.

In an interview with Western Nigeria Publica, Salaudeen, the producer and director of the new movie disclosed that ‘On the street of Zuckerberg’ was released to create awareness about some of these menaces.

Produced and directed by the University Don, he said the movie is a behavior change communication that seeks to raise awareness of societal menace among the youths.

Behavior change communication (BCC) is the strategic use of communication to promote positive health outcomes, based on proven theories and models of behavior change. It is an effective communication approach which helps to promote changes in knowledge, attitudes, norms, beliefs and behaviors.

Salaudeen said: “The effect of social media addiction on the youths has been a growing topic of concern. Many mental health professionals worry that the youths, most especially children and teenages are at risk for social media addiction.”

Social media has become the second home of teenagers. Most teens own smartphones that have unlimited availability to the internet, especially social media. Social media allows a person to accept requests from followers or friends, which provides access to the person's profile, photos, and posts. For most people, this is a convenient way to keep in touch with family and friends. However, teens who use social media are susceptible to social media addiction. When teens have an addiction to social media, their homework, real-life social interactions, and self-esteem are in danger.

Social media addiction is a behavioral disorder that has become part of daily routines among teens thereby causing  them to be preoccupied and obsessed with social media.

Recent research  has shown that many people, especially females, fall victim to spiritual and metaphysical attacks emanating from social media interactions with unknown and unfamiliar contacts who aren't sometimes human. Such an instance is depicted in On the Street of Zuckerberg.

The central themes of the movie include: Social Media's Impact on Identity and Relationships, Supernatural and Psychological Trauma, Family Dynamics and Support, The Struggle for Autonomy and Self-Expression, Friendship and Peer Influence.

This story is unique for its exploration of metaphysical universal truisms, and its appeal to viewers' minds, beaming gimlet light on the inherent use of social media.

To avoid social media addiction, it is pertinent to define and design  relationships with social media apps. By doing so, one can be protected from the psychological trauma and potential extra-mundane threats that often unnoticeably affect netizens whose parents, family and friends, most often,  toil to rescue in the wrong direction.

The film, written by Raheem Hameed, boasts casts featuring prominent actors like Temitope Iledo popularly known as  Topright, Opeyemi Moremi, among others. The second part of the movie is set to be released July 13, 2024 on the YouTube channel of Clear Vision Productions.
