This year's ' An Iftar with Mallam' lecture is tagged: "Be the Change: It begins with me"
The Guest Speaker, Sheikh Monsurudeen Rabiu Famuyiwa, Chief Imam Pakoto Land, Ifo said, being a Muslim makes one to be a perfect preacher of change.
He said that the conditions of Muslim lives have no bearing on the shaping of destiny, rather it is the pro-activeness of making decisions that shapes the outcome of what they can achieve.
"Allah subḥānahu wa ta'āla (glorified and exalted be He) states that He ‘will not change the condition of people unless they change what is in themselves’. My dear brothers and sisters, ask yourself how might you begin the process of change?
The Guest Speaker noted that everybody is an agent of change, adding that one can only be the change when he embraces what is good and forbid what is evil.
Monsurudeen, who said that Allah had warned people before now that whoever digressed from His path would encounter hardship, admonished Nigerians to return to Him (Allah).
“We should take His path, knowing that one day we are going to assemble and give an account of what we did during our earthly sojourn,” he said.
According to him, the only way for the country to move forward and progress is to adopt the way of Allah and follow His instruction, adding “when you bring evil, you are the one to reap the fruits and not Him (Allah).
"We must change our behaviour so that we can become good ambassadors of our dear country,” he said.
Similarly, the Islamic scholar highlighted some important factors that could restructure the current state of the nation; they include; knowledge, justice, truth, trust, among others.
