Nasrul-lahi-l-fatih Society (NASFAT) President,  Niyi Yisuf, has called on Muslim Youths  to be creators of jobs rather than seeking for white-collar employment.

Niyi gave this charge at the Opening Ceremony of the ongoing Annual Dawah Week organized by NASFAT Youth Wing Ogun Zone 1 & 2 at Islamic Mission of Africa, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Speaking on the theme: Empowering the next generation: Faith Leadership and Technology,” Niyi  disclosed that the likes of Iyinoluwa Aboyeji and Olugbega Agboola, Co-Founders of  Flutterwave were job creators and urged Nigerian youths to emulate them instead of engaging in dubious activities on-line.

The President described Nigerian youths as smart, intelligent and hardworking and enjoined them to use their brains, phones, creativity skills   and internet facilities to do genuine businesses.

Niyi noted  self-employed Nigerians constitute around 88.0% of the country's working population, while the remaining 12 percent are wage employees, adding that  urgent need for job creation is a pressing concern.

“The danger of youth unemployment is that it is the harbinger of numerous other national ills. It is the root cause of many other social ills.”

“Our orientation should therefore be toward entrepreneurship development,’’ he said, while urging the youths to explore and take advantage of other existing opportunities around them.

Speaking further, the NASFAT President charged Muslim youths on good leadership, urging them to focus on creating values.

“For you to be successful,  you need to do things differently and have a growth mindset.”

He said to be a successful leader, youths must have some qualities which he tagged “22 Cs of a Successful leader.” They are: competence, character, confidence, communication, commitment, consistency, compassion, creativity, curiosity, critical thinking, among others.

On his part, Balogun  Ma’roof-deen,  the Lead Missionary, NASFAT Eti-Osa Branch, Lagos State who represented the society’s Chief Missionary, Imam Abdul-Azeez Onike enjoined Muslim Youths to be good ambassadors of Islam wherever they are, by their deeds and good conduct, which according to him were the salient points they were taught during the period.

He urged youths to learn from the teachings of Prophet Muhammed and  lessons of the holy Quran, stressing that if they put into practise all the lessons, the conduct of every adherent would never be the same again.

Balogun said everyone is a leader, but anyone who “aspires to lead others, must be able to lead oneself by being in total control of, and use all what Allah has bestowed on him in ways directed by the Quran,

The guest lecturer also emphasized on the NASFAT HELD Policies, which he said the youths, in order to be a successful Muslim must adhere to the health,  education, livelihood and dawah policies in accordance with the sunnah of the Prophet.

Earlier, the NASFAT Youth Wing Ogun Zone 1 Coordinator, Ayinla Olaide said the theme for the 2023 Dawah Camp was timely as it focuses on empowering the youths with necessary skills needed to thrive in the 21st century.

He urged the participants to take their faith seriously and always represent Islam anywhere they find themselves.
