Brace-Up The Young Marks Five Years Anniversary: Key Achievements

It is exactly five years today Brace-Up The Young kicked off operations. When it launched out on December 20th, 2018, it was clear, just from its name, what the ambitions were. Quality Education. Girls Leadership. Governance and Policies. 

Brace-Up the Young is a youth-led organization dedicated to educating and mentoring young people to become innovative and accountable leaders by building their capacity through leadership development training , providing access to quality education and increasing civic participation .

As the organization celebrates its fifth ‘birthday’ today, here are 5 of their  biggest achievements yet, carefully selected among various projects it has embarked on.

Scholarship for 7 Indigent students in 2023

In 2023, Brace-Up The Young gave out a 3 years Junior Secondary School Scholarship to seven(7) indigent girls.  

The Founder, Obasanjo Fajemirokun said the scholarship was to empower future generations, especially the girl-child so as to be able to live a decent and more productive life.

He explained that the educational foundation was established as a result of his organization's belief in the acquisition of knowledge.

"If we the present generation defaulted or refused to educate our young ones today, " he added.

'Brace-up The Young' renovated classrooms in Ota and Ilaro to support learning for over 200 students.

The organization on Friday, May 19, handed over a social impact project, five renovated classrooms to the management of Ansar-ud-deen Primary School, Sabo, Ilaro, and Lucida Ephataz Model School, Ota, Ogun State.

Obasanjo Fajemirokun, Founder of Brace-up The Young, Emphasizes NGO's Mission to Renovate 60 Classrooms in 20 Low-Income Community Schools Across Nigeria, Enabling Educational Access for Over 200 Students.

Obasanjo stresses the importance of Providing Comfortable Learning Environments for All Children, Rejecting the Notion of Students Learning in Uncomfortable Spaces, Without Doors, Windows, or even under trees. He said "all students should learn under a comfortable eco-friendly learning environment irrespective of their socio-economic background or the location of their school". 

During the launch, Obasanjo stressed the value of students learning in a comfortable learning environment. He said " with a conducive learning environment, teachers are more motivated to teach better and have the needed teaching aid to facilitate learning for the students ".

Education and Leadership Development Training 

The organization in the last 5 years has reached over 6,763 students and 453 young people through their education and leadership development programs engaging over 70 volunteers.

Girls Leadership Development Program

Brace-Up The Young empowered 50 girls at St. Michael primary school, Ota, Ogun State, through her leadership development program with leadership skills and a safe learning space.

Brace-Up The Young launched Civic Education Mobile App(Wi-App)

The organization launched its first civic education mobile - Wi-App and independently observed the 2023 general elections by deploying 45 Eyewitness observers in 11 states for the Governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections on March 18th 2023.

Every birthday, they say, is like a new year. On this note, Brace-Up The Young welcomes the general public to a new  year, which, to the organization, is a chance to make more impacts.
