The National President Nasrul-Lahi-L-Fatih Society (NASFAT), Alhaji Niyi Yusuf has reiterated commitment to actualizing global goals for sustainable development with a pledge to addressing issues of health, education and livelihood in the society.
He made this known recently at NASFAT Ota Branch, Ogun State on a Courtesy Visitation to Ogun Zone led by Alh. Abdulafeez Olawoyin.
Speaking at the event, Yusuf said NASFAT which was birthed 26 years ago has moved beyond going for 'Asalatu' on Sundays alone but there has been a tremendous development in terms of education, health, welfarism, among others.
Yusuf noted that humanity and Nigerian Muslims in particular were facing challenges of limited access to quality healthcare, education with low relevance to industry needs and youths with unemployable skills.
“NASFAT will be an active player in the movement to actualise the global goals for sustainable development, especially in the areas of eradicating poverty, zero hunger, good health and well being, he said.
According to the National President, NASFAT mission is to develop an enlightened Muslim Society nutured by a true understanding of Islam for spiritual development and welfare of mankind.
In order to achieve these goals, Yusuf charged stakeholders in the society, branches, Missionaries and individuals to focus attention on programmes and interventions in the four areas of health, education, livelihood and Da’wah(HELD).
"With our focus on HELD, we will create a coalition of internal and external forces so we can focus and combine resources to boldly address the issues of poverty, hunger, decent work, quality education, good health, innovation and reducing inequalities while promoting righteousness, piety, kindness, safe places of worship, religious tolerance, peaceful co-existence and godliness whilst discouraging inappropriate behavior, corrupt practices, unethical conducts, wickedness, impiety and immorality without being political, and in compliance with the injunction of Allah," he said.
Speaking further, Alh. Yusuf emphasized the need to do more as a leader, adding that leadership is a responsibility and opportunity that must be handled well.
This, he said the reason why the four priorities were initiated so as to develop the community and have a better welfare for mankind.
In these four areas of focus – Health, Education, Livelihood and Da’wah, it encompasses the prior activities of the Society delivered through our Medical committees who provide free basic Health care to members; our education committees, Educational institutions and Fountain University Osogbo who promotes learning and scholarship; our Empowerment Committees, Legal Committees, NASFAT Relief Initiative (NRI) and NAZAS who enhances Livelihood by providing training, skills acquisition, job opportunities, educational grants, legal aid services to prisoners, machineries, equipment, economic relief and trade support; and our Mission Board and Mosque Building Committees who promotes Da’wah through their various Qur’anic and Arabic lessons, teachings, exhortations, sermons, counselling and the construction of mosques for worship and learning, including our national mosque here at Aseese.
Speaking with Western Nigeria Publica(WNP), he said to achieve this, there is need for adequate support from members of the society. "Support in terms of physical, moral, financial and spiritual."
As a result, NASFAT have decided to solicit for funds for each of its programs through Direct Debit Mandate, Contributions, Donations, among others.
He, however, advised Ogun Zone to allign more closely with the Head Quarters, focus on the need of members and work closely with its activities and programs for a sustainable developmet.
