JCI Nigeria announces 2021 Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award

Junior Chamber International (JCI) Nigeria has officially released names of 10 young Nigerian professionals as honorees in the 2021 edition of the annual Ten Outstanding Young Persons (JCI TOYP) Awards. 

In a Press Release made available to Western Nigeria Publica, the announcement comes  after a rigorous selection process which began with nominations by members of the public and stages of screening, selection and voting, which narrowed the long nominees from about 1000 nominations, and then the final 10.

The JCI Nigeria TOYP award, a domestication of the global JCI TOYP is an annual award that recognizes youth within the ages of 18 and 40 in Nigeria who have distinguished themselves in advancing the cause of human and global development.

The 2021 edition of the TOYP Award process commenced in January 2020 with nominations of over 1000 industrious young Nigerians received.

A leading audit firm, UHY Maaji thereafter coordinated a nationwide voting process for young Nigerians to scrutinize and sift through the works of the finalists and determine preferred honorees for the 2021 Ten Outstanding Young Persons Award in Nigeria.

Distinguished captains of industries, entrepreneurs and renowned professionals across different sectors of the Nigerian economy were engaged as judges to vet the nominations and screen them to arrive at a minimal number of finalists for a voting process.

Recipients include Shola Akinlade, Co-founder and CEO, Paystack; Greene Maryam, comedian and content creator popularly known as Taaooma; Olalekan Sipasi, Co-Founder, a project Ozone; Dr. Alexander Ezenagu, Assistant Professor, College of Law, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar; Olivia Onyeamobi, Founder, Pad Up Creations; Omotola Fawunmi, Founder, Stretch Center; Asisat Oshoala, Footballer, Nigeria and Barcelona FC.

Other honorees are Gideon Olanrewaju, Founder, Areai); Hamzat Bala Lawal, Anti-corruption activist and Founder, Follow the Money);  and Abiodun Adereni, Founder and CEO, Help Mum.

On Thursday 12th of August, 2021, Junior Chamber International Nigeria will be celebrating the 10 TOYP 2021 Award ceremony at the JCIN International Youth Day at Daylan Events Centre, Eleyele, Ibadan.

According to Kemi Irinoye, the Chairperson of the JCI Nigeria TOYP/IYD team, JCI Nigeria is committed to consistently providing development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change.
