Sexul abuse against minors has become a topic commonly ravaging our society, making it seem normal and acceptable. This menace has gathered enormous interests across diverse societies, and its ugly head continues to rear itself on daily basis.

In a layman’s term, sexual abuse refers to a psychiatric malfunction that makes a full grown adolescent or an adult to undergo absolute sexual desire towards prepubescent (pre-teen) children, in the under 13 age bracket.

Going by the aforemetioned defintion, imagining an innocent child going through such a torment is nauseating, and frigtening. The most heart-breaking is the reality that family members can also be the actual perpetrators.

Two instances of parental sexual abuse against underage happened at Epe and Meiran. Motunrayo Ogunsanwo 16, and Ayomide Racheal Johnson, 14, were allegedly raped by their biological fathers.

These forceful incestious assaults continued unabated until succour came from Lady of Africa Foundation, headed by the founder and the National Coordinator, Princess Bukola Fasuyi. The suspects were arrested while their molested daughters are currently undergoing adequate care at the foundation. The police handling the cases have charged the culprits to court.

Victims of sexual abuse need rehabilitation and often, financial help to recover from the trauma. One of the best ways to better their lives is for the wealthy individuals, and organizations to come to their aids. Sheikh Hammed Olanrewaju Alfulaany, is an example of a good-hearted Nigerian, a man with a heart of gold, an Islamic cleric who founded Sebilu Nnajat TV, a businessman, and an Estate merchant.

Sheikh Alfulaany, heeding the call of Lady of Africa Foundation, has pledged to see Ayomide and Motunrayo through school, till they graduate from the University. In addition, their upkeep and daily financial demands will be catered for henceforth.

In her appreciative remarks, Princess Bukola Fasuyi could not hide her joy as she showered thanks on Sheikh Alfulaany, and thanked him for helping the girls. Furthermore, Princess Fasuyi appealed to other humanitarians to emulate the business merchant by partnering with the Foundation to carry out more charity projects for the less privileged.

While commenting on the sad incidences of the two victims, the Islamic cleric condemned vehemently sexual abuse and rape. He promised to keep assisting the needy with everything within his means.

In the same vein, two sisters from the same family, Barakat Hassan, 22, and Azeezat Hassan, 24, also won scholarships from the Sheikh. They were victims of broken home by their mother who left them 22 years ago when she abandoned her marriage.

Things turned from bad to worse after their father passed away. They became vulnerable without any caregiver. Then Barakat turned blind while struggling to survive, making the situation unbearable for Azeezat who is left to feed them both.

Fortunately, luck smiled on them when Sheikh Alfulaany got to know about them. He is currently sponsoring Barakat’s expensive medical bills at a Lagos hospital where her case is under intensive care. Also, conducive shelter has been provided for the sisters by the cleric, while plans to return them to school are underway.

Princess Fasuyi praised the philanthropist for his generosity. She said he has shown that ethnicity or religion must not be barriers when the call for charity comes knocking. She further stated that Nigerians must imbibe the culture of giving, and tolerance.

Similarly, Princess Fasuyi also encouraged government, the International community, and wealthy people in the country to back up Sheikh Olanrewaju Hammed Alfulaany as he continues his kindness towards the less privileged. They should also support the foundation in its humanitarian efforts, she stated.
