Green White Green Sport Center Reiterates Commitment to Strengthen Sports in Gombe

In a bid to boost sports activities in Gombe State, Green White Green Sport Center LTD has reaffirmed its dedication to identifying and nurturing top athletes and footballers for enrollment in its academy aimed to provide them with international-standard training to represent the state and the country at large.

This assurance was made by the Chairman of Green White Green Sport Center LTD Ahmad Shuaibu Gara, during the official draws for the Gombe State Principals Cup Football Competition for Secondary Schools held at the Government Science Secondary School in Gombe.

The chairman emphasized the importance of empowering the younger generation with foundational sports techniques and training to represent the state at both local and national levels, expressing confidence that these efforts would help revitalize sports in Gombe State.

He further revealed that over 5 million Naira was spent during the previous Inter-Primary Schools Athletics Competition, while more than 9 million Naira has been allocated for the upcoming Inter-Secondary School Athletics Competition and Principals Cup Football Competition and all resources for these initiatives were personally provided by him. 

He called on other sports enthusiasts, both within and outside the state, to support the project by mentoring young talents and helping them showcase their abilities.

The chairman also pledged to select the best participants from the competitions, enroll them in the academy, and fully cover their educational and living expenses to enable them to focus on their training, mirrors the support given to the top participants of the previous Inter-Primary Schools Athletics Competition.

Speaking during the event, the Executive Secretary of Gombe Local Government Education Authority, Malam Baba Abubakar,  commended Ahmed Shuaibu Gara-Gombe for organizing the competition and assured the government’s support for all sporting activities.

Similarly, the Principal of Government Science Secondary School Gombe and President of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Abubakar Sadeeq Sulaiman,  praised the initiative by Green White Green Sport Center, noting that such extracurricular activities play a significant role in shaping students and enabling them to contribute to the development of sports in Gombe State and Nigeria.

The event was attended by school principals, games masters, and sports officials from within and outside the state.

Both the Gombe State Principals Cup Football Competition for Secondary Schools and the Inter-Secondary School Athletics Competition are scheduled to commence tomorrow, Tuesday, 21 January 2025, at the Pantami Township Stadium, Gombe.
