Gombe State Government has assured its residents of ongoing efforts to ensure consistent and accessible drinking water throughout the state.

The Acting Manager of Gombe State Water Board Corporation, Engr. Abubakar Sadiq Muhammad made this known during an Exclusive interview with our reporter  at his office.

Abubakar, who attributed the water shortage to ongoing repairs on three major pump machines responsible for transporting water from the Daddin-Kowa dam to Gombe, said the machines, which have been in operation for over 17 years, are undergoing maintenance.

According to him,  only two machines are in operational, with efforts underway to repair the third, causing a minor water shortage in recent days.

The acting General Manager, while seeking understanding from the people of Gombe State, assured them that the situation would soon be resolved, emphasizing the relentless work of their officials in repairing the remaining pumping machine.

While speaking on the prolonged water shortages in certain areas of the metropolis, The Water Corporation boss urged residents to exercise patience, linking the uncertainties to the ongoing road improvement projects by the state government, which necessitate the relocation of some water pipelines, a process taking time to complete.

He, however,  enjoined the people of Gombe to regularly pay their water bills to support the government's efforts, given the substantial financial commitment required to maintain water supply services.
