Gombe Govt Backs NOA’s Campaign Against Youth Restiveness, Promote National Unity

The Gombe State Government has reaffirmed its full support for the National Orientation Agency’s nationwide campaign aimed at fostering national cohesion, development, and unity among Nigerians.

The assurance was given by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, during a townhall meeting with key stakeholders on pathway to national cohesion, development and unity campaign with focus on Youth reactiveness organized by NOA held at the Federal Secretariat in Gombe.

Represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties and Regional Integration, Shehu Yerima Abdullahi, the SSG applauded NOA’s initiative and highlighted the state’s commitment to addressing youth unemployment through initiatives like the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park in Dadin Kowa.

Taking the campaign message a step further, the State Director of the National Orientation Agency, Mrs. Adaline Waye Patari, delivered a compelling keynote address that spotlighted youth restiveness as a ticking time bomb.

She emphasized that no nation can prosper when its youth are disillusioned, unemployed, or exploited by negative influences.

Mrs. Patari commended the Gombe State Government for proactive measures, including the establishment of GOSTEC, curbing night motorcycle operations, and strengthening support for security agencies, all geared towards curbing insecurity and engaging youth in productive ventures.

Highlighting key federal interventions, Mrs. Patari reeled out a lineup of youth-focused programs, including the NYIF, 3MTT, NELFUND, and N-Power, urging youths in the state to plug into these opportunities.

Also speaking at the meeting, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Colonel Abdullahi Bello (Rtd), said the Inuwa Yahaya-led administration has remained committed to securing lives and property across the state.

He called for public understanding and patience regarding the ongoing motorcycle movement restriction, assuring that security agencies are actively monitoring the situation, and that the policy may be reviewed once stability is fully restored.

The Stakeholders' engagement brought together representatives of security agencies, civil society groups, traditional and religious institutions, women, and youth associations.

A common concern echoed by many participants was the urgent need to create sustainable job opportunities and ensure proper upbringing for children as lasting solutions to ending insecurity in Gombe State and across the country.
