The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has continued its efforts to promote patriotism and national cohesion through a robust engagement with stakeholders, focusing on the re-adopted National Anthem and the National Value Charter.
The Gombe State Director of the National Orientation Agency, Adaline Waye Patari, made the remarks during a stakeholders' engagement session held at the Federal Secretariat in Gombe.
The event forms part of a nationwide campaign aimed at fostering a sense of unity and moral responsibility among Nigerians.
Patari underscored the importance of aligning personal values with national values, stressing that the re-adopted National Anthem serves as more than a symbol of national identity but it's a call to action for all citizens to contribute positively to the nation’s progress.
She noted that embracing the anthem's spirit would foster national unity and deepen citizens' sense of belonging.
Addressing participants, Patari emphasized that the National Value Charter, which goes hand in hand with the re-adopted anthem, is a blueprint for building an ethical and responsible society.
She said the charter, outlines the mutual responsibilities between the government and its people, encouraging citizens to uphold values such as patriotism, respect for law and order, and civic responsibility.
She further explained that the Seven Citizens’ Codes and Seven Nigeria Promises embedded in the charter provide a roadmap for Nigerians to contribute to national development while ensuring that the government delivers essential services like security, economic growth, and infrastructure development.
Speaking on behalf of the security agencies in Gombe, the Commissioner of Police, CP Hayatu Usman who was represented by CSP Safiyanu Sa'idu, commended the National Orientation Agency for launching the campaign, emphasizing that the promotion of national values and patriotism is crucial for maintaining peace and security.
In their remarks, the Representative of the Chairman of Jama'atul Nasrul Islam Gombe State, Abubakar Siddi Muhammad Hashidu and Apostle Chaplain Integrity Abraham, representing the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), stressed the importance of moral values and unity among all citizens, stating that the re-adopted National Anthem could help reignite a sense of loyalty and collective responsibility.
Furthermore, the District Head of Doma, Alh. Abdullahi Doma, representing the Senior District Head of Gombe, expressed the commitment of traditional leaders to the campaign, assuring the stakeholders that the traditional leaders would take the message of patriotism and national values back to their respective domains, ensuring that the sensitization efforts reach even the grassroots level for greater impact.
The event, which saw the participation of various government officials, civil society organizations, and community leaders, is part of NOA’s broader strategy to raise awareness about the policies and programs of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration.
The campaign will include town hall meetings, school outreach programs, and media engagement to ensure that the message reaches all corners of Gombe State.
