In a strategic move to transform the future of work for Nigerian teachers and unlock global income opportunities, education technology companies Schoolinka and HiPrep have entered into a landmark partnership to train and transition 5,000 educators into the fast-growing global online tutoring market over the next 2 years.
At the heart of this partnership is a shared belief: teachers are not only essential, they are undervalued. Despite being one of the most influential professions in society, many Nigerian educators are grossly underpaid, with average monthly salaries ranging from ₦30,000 to ₦60,000. For a country battling rising inflation, high youth unemployment (currently over 40% among those aged 15–34), and limited professional growth opportunities for teachers, this partnership presents a new path, one that leads directly to financial empowerment, digital upskilling, and global relevance.
CEO of Schoolinka, Oluwaseun Kayode said, “we have thousands of smart, passionate educators who are stuck in a system that doesn’t reward their talent. This partnership with HiPrep is about giving these teachers a fighting chance — helping them gain the skills and visibility they need to earn more, work globally, and teach with dignity.”

Schoolinka, an edtech company known for its innovative teacher training and career advancement programs, will lead the design and delivery of a high-quality online training program tailored specifically for online tutoring success. The curriculum will cover differentiated instruction, virtual classroom engagement, use of AI and digital tools, time management, and business skills for freelancers.
HiPrep, known for placing K–12 students on consistent and customized study routines across core subjects/exam preparation and connecting families with top-qualified tutors from Nigeria and the diaspora. These expert tutors, many of whom have built successful careers in online education, will collaborate with Schoolinka's instructional team to transform their expertise into practical, globally relevant, bite-sized course content.
Graduates of the program will receive a co-branded certificate recognized by both companies and gain direct access to tutoring opportunities through the HiPrep platform and other global tutoring networks. A first-right-of-refusal recruitment arrangement ensures that HiPrep has early access to top talent emerging from the program.
Chief Executive Officer of HiPrep, Adanma Ugwu, said “There’s an incredible demand from African diaspora families in the UK, US, and Canada who want tutors who understand their children’s cultural context and can teach math, English, Yoruba, Hausa or Igbo in a way that feels familiar and engaging.”
According to her, the organization is creating a pipeline of well-trained African educators who can fill that gap, work from home, and earn globally.”
The global online tutoring market is projected to surpass $23 billion by 2027, fueled by rising demand for personalized, flexible, and culturally responsive learning experiences. Yet, many African educators remain locked out of this opportunity due to skill gaps, lack of access, and limited visibility on global hiring platforms.
This partnership seeks to change that, not just for a few, but for thousands of teachers.
The first cohort of the training program is set to launch in Q3 2025. Interested educators will be able to apply via Schoolinka’s platform and benefit from ongoing mentorship, community support, and exposure to job opportunities upon graduation.
By the end of 2026, both organizations aim to have trained and connected 5,000 educators with meaningful online work, a step toward tackling both the education workforce crisis and Nigeria’s rising unemployment problem.
